ACN believes that people are the starting point of transforming society, when people come together for a good course, society can improve. We are a training and research social enterprise registered by the government of Uganda. We exist to build the skills and knowledge of development practitioners and organizations to be effective and sustainable in addressing community challenges.

What we do?

Evaluation, Research and Surveys

We conduct research, evaluations, and impact assessments on behalf of various organizations. We provide support throughout the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) process, which includes activities such as planning, monitoring, evaluation, impact assessment, and learning. Our goal is to ensure that these processes are "fit for purpose" and enable organizations and stakeholders to effectively manage and utilize their resources to maximize the positive impact of their work. We work closely with organizations to develop M&E frameworks and systems that are tailored to their specific needs and objectives. This involves assisting in the planning stage to define clear goals, indicators, and data collection methods. We then provide ongoing support in monitoring progress and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and interventions. Additionally, we conduct impact assessments to measure the long-term outcomes and impacts of organizations' activities. By assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of interventions, we help organizations identify areas of improvement and optimize their use of resources. We prioritize the concept of continuous learning throughout the M&E process. This involves promoting a culture of reflection and learning, where organizations can continuously improve their practices and adapt to changing circumstances. We facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building to ensure that organizations are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to manage and utilize M&E effectively.

We support organizations in the development and implementation of practical and efficient Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, approaches, and tools that are customized to their specific needs. Our focus is on supporting users in building their capacity and enhancing their skills in utilizing, adapting, and improving M&E practices. We offer comprehensive M&E training programs to practitioners, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively carry out M&E activities. These training initiatives cover various areas, including participatory M&E, theory of change, M&E of research, program strategy, and design. Our aim is to empower practitioners with the tools and techniques needed to conduct M&E processes successfully. Additionally, we collaborate with organizations to design and implement participatory M&E approaches, ensuring that stakeholders are actively engaged throughout the M&E process. By involving all relevant parties, we facilitate a more inclusive and comprehensive evaluation of programs and interventions. Furthermore, we assist organizations in incorporating M&E principles into their program strategy and design. By aligning M&E with program objectives from the outset, organizations can better track progress, measure impact, and make informed decisions to improve program effectiveness. Our approach is tailored to the specific context and needs of each organization, considering their unique requirements, resources, and constraints. We prioritize practicality, efficiency, and user-friendliness in developing M&E systems, approaches, and tools.
